BRITAIN: FASTER, CHEAPER CLEANUPS A BOOST FOR NUCLEAR ENERGY
We’re proponents of the idea that faster, cheaper cleanups of nuclear
sites (which often can mean using rail to transport waste) is a big step
in developing long-term answers for our energy needs. Now from Great Britain
comes a report that shows it can work there too. A government agency says
it can clean up “nuclear liabilities” much faster and at far
less cost than originally thought, and that could mean a new acceptance

NEW DOT REGULATIONS: LSA SHIPMENTS NEED SPECIAL HANDLING
In a push to harmonize how we package and ship low-level radioactive waste
with practices followed in other countries, the U.S. Department of Transportation
enforced new regulations last month that will impact just about everyone
in the nuclear industry and related businesses. Kurt Colburn, our director

MILESTONES REACHED AT TWO SUPERFUND SITES
Two current assignments – both stemming from the Superfund program,
one in New Jersey and the other in Colorado – underscore how our
expertise in providing packaging and using gondola railcars is playing
a critical role in the remediation of contaminated sites. We recently
passed important milestones at both locations. And, we’re saving

FERNALD: A CUSTOMIZED SOLUTION HARNESSING EXISTING TECHNOLOGY
We recently completed the design, fabrication and installation of a customized
mechanical loading and packaging system to be used at DOE’s Fernald
Closure Project, harnessing existing loading and packaging technologies
not previously utilized in similar situations. Now we’ve posted
