NEWMONT MINING: ON-SITE TRANSLOAD FACILITY A FIRST
In what is believed to be a first for the mining industry, we recently developed an on-site transload facility for Newmont Mining that brings the safety and cost advantages of rail to a remote location. The project was part of an ongoing assignment to move copper concentrate from Nevada to Quebec. “We too have a strong commitment to the environment and safety, and that gave us a solid bond with Newmont for developing the innovative game plan,” said MHF-LS’ Timothy Blythe.

NUCLEAR EXPERT JIM VIEBROCK’S ADVENTUROUS CAREER
Jim Viebrock – a globetrotting nuclear fuel expert who earlier this year joined us to help manage our growing spent fuel and international businesses – has worked at plants and disposal facilities in some 25 countries, including Iraq and North Korea. The adventurous career has given him a deeper, richer perspective to offer MHF-LS clients and business partners.

SUPPORT FOR EARLY CLOSURE OF FERNALD URANIUM CLEANUP
When the Fernald uranium cleanup job was undertaken in the 1990s, early estimates pegged the massive project as costing more than $12.2 billion and lasting until 2019. But thanks to the work of Fluor Fernald, general contractors to the Dept. of Energy, work was largely completed a few weeks ago at a total cost of less than $4.5 billion. We played a significant role in the project’s success by handling many of packaging and transportation logistics requirements, including building a mechanical loading and packaging system.

RICHARD SANTELLO NAMED PRESIDENT & CEO
Waste management industry veteran Richard Santello recently was named president and CEO of MHF Logistical Solutions following the resignation of company founder John Evanko, who remains a significant shareholder and a member of our board of directors. Santello has ambitious plans for the company.
